Colin McEnroe must be suffering from craft beer poisoning or something, because he is having an incredibly difficult time reasoning out the argument of that post.

We understand that the Odd Ball was a fund raiser, and that’s the reason for the $45 ticket. Real Art Ways is absolutely great, they do a bunch of really cool stuff in the city, and there’s no question that they deserve our support.

However, Colin’s column wasn’t about how the Odd Ball raised all this money for the arts. He used it as proof of Hartford’s coolness in the face of so much hating. Honestly, it was a nice article, and it’s nice that nice people are saying nice things about Hartford.

Our issue is that Colin has consistently and rudely ignored all the other cool stuff that’s going on in this city. I know, he’s 54 years old, and can’t be relied on “to convey the really cool, cutting edge stuff in Hartford.” That’s a cop out, and our question is, why can’t you? You’re a journalist; you blow endless hot air about Hartford and present yourself as someone who cares about the city. Yet you personally can’t be bothered to politely entertain a little conversation about the HPSU’s non-profit/pro-arts work. It’s disingenuous, and that’s our beef with Colin and his column.

Granted the tenor of our posts, and even this letter might be, as he put it, “brimming with hostility.” However, that isn’t the product of our age, or whatever, it’s the product of Dave Barry Lite’s full-on, drunk-faced bum out attitude the couple of times we tried to tell him about what we’re doing. That’s what we can’t understand; if you’re concerned enough with the state of coolness in this city to write that column, why not demonstrate that concern in real life by being a little personable?

Anyway, thanks for the plug granddad. Foam parties forever!

What kind of a fucking jerk thinks that a $45 cover charge with $5 domestic bottles is “cheap enough so that you didn’t have to be a swell to afford it?’ That’s what Colin had to say about last week’s Odd Ball at Real Art Ways. Granted Real Art Ways is not-for-profit and they do a lot of great stuff in the city and deserve your money, but what the fuck Colin? I approached that dick on two separate occasions about the HPSU, and he was totally rude and dismissive. Maybe Hartford isn’t regarded as “cool” because we’re saddled with 50 year-old, thizz faced taste-makers who wouldn’t know a good time if it kicked them in the fucking goatee.
