Hartford Advocate – Spot light DIRTY D.

Last weekend i hit the dance floor hard at Threshold Sound‘s Bi-weekly electronic music night (ELECTRONIC ROOTS). Got a nice little write up thanks to the Hartford Advocate.

“I caught a set by Dirty D, one of the DJs from the Hartford Party Starters Union. He was spinning organic, four-to-the-floor thumpers in the style of Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx. There was a great push-pull effect between the serious kick drum that was a constant throughout his set, and the quirky melodies and samples that rode atop the bass. He pulled out ancient ’80s pop and R&B chestnuts, more for their deft melodies than for retro ha-has. And he linked into the crowd, pumping his fist and dancing when the beat built up, rather than just hiding behind his equipment. Totally satisfying.”
